George St Renovation by The Interior Studio
New life is breathed into this 1800’s bluestone family home, fondly named Cottage on George, with a contemporary extension to the rear of the home. The new extended footprint encompasses a study, bathroom, family living, kitchen and butler’s pantry. The project located in Clarence Park is interior designer Penny Crompton’s own home and has been completed by award winning builders Desyn Homes.
The stunning monochrome kitchen features edgy black Laminex PureGrain cabinetry and bench tops and matching splashbacks in Arabescato marble by Alano Australia. Quicksteps Creamy White Oak matte was chosen for the flooring to tie in with the whitewashed baltic pine in the existing part of the home.
The Switzrok Matte Black pull out sink mixer complements the dark cabinetry and steel windows, and is a practical choice for a family kitchen; making washing large dishes and cleaning the farmhouse style sink a breeze.

We love how bright and spacious the bathroom in is. The large window, light floor to ceiling tiles and pops of greenery make this contemporary space feel so inviting.
The beautiful butler’s pantry also cleverly incorporates the laundry so as to make the most of the space, and allow as much living area as possible. The well designed extension is bright and modern, yet still integrates well with the existing 1800’s bluestone cottage, which we catch glimpses of through the large glass door to outside.
